General Electric MWF Refrigerator Water Filter

Why do the multi-pack cost more than a single filter? Seems like you're gouging potential buyers who might aaume it's more economical buying multpacks
-The price you post for one filter is less than your price for each filter in the multi-packs which makes no sense. That's why I feel it appears that you are gouging buyers who might typically think it's more economical to buy the multi-packs when, in fact, it is not. The filters are more expensive per unit in the multi-packs compared to your single filter price regardless of what prices you've seen elsewhere.

I just received one of these. After installation, I notices several glasses of black water coming out the dispenser. Was wondering what it could be?
-you need to run about 1 1/2 gallons thru the filter to get it ready to dispense clear filtered water
-That's normal. You are outing the system. Keep doing that until it's clear and make sure to get all the air out too by holding down for 2-3 mins.
-I've purchased and installed about 12 of these and never had black water.

I just installed a new GE MWF filter and ran 11/2 gallons of water thru the filter that went from black to gray then clear is this normal?
-yes, it should of told you on the box the run a gallon of H20 dispensed from your fridge. it is normal
-We installed ours and did not have any black/ gray water.
-Yes, it was clear the charcoal out of the fliter and it should be good for six months unless you use it a lot more than our family of four do. I hope this is of some help.
-I've been using these filters for several years now and have never seen that. My water always comes out clear, even when it's first running through the filter.
-Wow, black, is someone fracking near you? :). I generally run water thru new filter for 3 minutes after installation. Only once, after not changing on schedule, did I have some gunky looking material appear in the first minute, then it cleared. Usually clear right away....and same 'til time to replace. Maybe The old filter was in WAY too long...hopefully that's all. Good luck
-We installed ours over a week ago and have not had any discoloration in our water. We have our own well and the water was clear with the old filter and has remained clear with the new filter. If you're on city water, you might check to see if there are any chemicals they put in that might react with the filter.
