Aqua-Pure Plus Refrigerator Water Filter Samsung DA29-00003G

I purchased my Samsung a year ago. I just hooked up the water line and the replacement light came on? Why did it expire when I've never run the water?
-The replacement light simply runs on a timer so it is likely just a coincidence that it came on now. There are no sensors that measure the quantity of water through the filter or quality or water output. Simply reset the filter reminder on the panel and wait till the next time that it comes on to replace.
-You need to reset after you replaced the new filter. It wont rest the light for you.
-Even if you never used before the water line, you should reset the filter reminder. After that, you should change it about every 6 months (recommended by Manufacturer).
-If you are just now setting up the filter, than you will have to (re)set the filter settings. Mine does not do so and I have to reset to filter monitor every time I swap out an old for a new. However, I would call Samsung directly and see if this is the case for yours as well.

This filter works great and is very easy to install. But, I've noticed when installing the filter that the marks on the filter NEVER line up with the "lock" marks on the fridge. Does this happen to anyone else? Filter goes on EASY, but I'm always wondering if I'm doing something wrong and that's why the marks don't line up per the instructions.
-Here is the answer we got from Samsung tech who was called to the house when the new fridge water tasted terrible.
The filter has to be inserted and turned to catch, THEN PUSHED UPWARD AND TURNED TO ENGAGE THE FILTER COMPLETELY.
Then the arrows will line up.
We knew something was wrong when there was no water in the original filter when first removed. Apparently, the guys who installed the fridge never fully engaged the filter, and I followed their lead. The filter works perfectly now.
We were also cautioned about "generic" filters that are knock-off quality and not able to filter as well or as long. There are duplicate Samsung filters made in Korea that are low rated but look exactly the same. Genuine Samsung filters with a higher rating are made in Mexico. Hope this helps
-The filter always lines up with the "lock"mark. My problem has always been removing the old filter. Hope this helps.
-mine did the same thing but it has nothing to do with performance or cause a leak. All is well. Mine has been on for a while and is working fine.
-The filter lines-up with the lock icon and mark almost perfectly on our refrigerator, within about 2 or 3 degrees, which I would say is lined up. If you think you have an issue, you can eyeball the lock points with the filter off and mark the lock points with lines using a marker. Do the same with the filter that is off and then install the filter to check the match point lines. If the match point lines line-up, you will know you are locked in. You can then opt to make a new line-up mark to match your filter where you will not have to guess any longer. Hope this helps.
