Fits perfectly in the fridge, lasts the full 6 months before the replace light comes on. Just remember that the water line might have some gas in it, so you really need to run the water through for some time before it settles down, along with the particulates. It works well if you follow the instructions. Also, empty out your ice container if you have an ice maker and turn it off while replacing the filter.
I bought this 4 months ago and the "REPLACE" light has already come on. We don't drink a lot of water each day. How long is the filter supposed last?
-I believe they're only supposed to last 6 months. Our initial filter lasted that long.
-They are supposed to last 6 months. I've been told that when your replace light comes on, you should be able to reset it at least once before "replacing" it. I didn't know this until I just bought my last one and have not had to reset it yet. However the prior one I think said replace prematurely as we lost power several times and was only in the fridge a few months before the replace light came on. Hope this helps!
-Frigidaire recommends 6 month replacements. The one that came with my new fridge lasted about 6 before it "claimed" replace but I ran it up to about 8 or 10 before replacing it. The second one is still going strong 8 to 9 months in with no warning from the fridge. We don't use it a ton as my daughter is too young and I have a Brita water pitcher for instant or bulk needs which helps prolong the life of both.
I would say you can get 12 months (not on the first filter) of light to moderate use. 8 months of moderate use and 6 of heavy use before you should think about replacing.
If the water flow is noticeably slower than normal definitely look into it.
-Short answer, is until it is full of the containments that it is filtering out of your water. 6 months if your water is very clean to start with, a matter of days if your water is heavily contaminated with the stuff it filters for. And it is a long list, and also cleans out extremely fine particles, and that will plug them fast. Again depending on your water supply.
